April 20 - Update

Today, Dr. de Villa confirmed Toronto is currently in the peak period for reported cases but there is cause for cautious optimism.She noted that the only way we will continue to be successful is if we maintain the measure that help reduce virus spread for more time. All residents are asked to stay home as much as possible and practise physical distancing whenever possible. 

Residents can now report COVID-19 related issues for enforcement online. Visit the City’s website to submit a report about individuals, businesses or establishments that are non-compliant with the City’s bylaws, including physical distancing, as well as provincial and federal orders.

Unison Health & Community Services(1541 Jane Street)is currently providing services over the phoneto keep community members safe and prevent the spread of COVID-19. Services are free and are open to all community members ages 16 and over (including refugees and persons without status) regardless of where you live. Interpretation services are also available. Update on enforcement activity

Enforcement of the City's physical distancing bylaw and the Emergency Measures and Civil Protection Act orders is also ongoing. Yesterday, the City received 59 complaints involving people using outdoor amenities or not practising physical distancing in parks. Bylaw and police officers issued 24 tickets – bringing the total number of tickets issued since April 3 to 433. For a second day in a row, nearly 200 vehicles were turned away from Bluffer’s Park, where the parking lot remains closed.  The City also received 38 complaints yesterday related to non-essential businesses remaining open in contravention of the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act. Since March 24, Municipal Licensing & Standards and Toronto Public Health have issued 46 tickets and 126 notices to non-essential businesses.

Report non-compliance during the COVID-19 pandemic

To help manage public complaints and concerns to 311, there is an online form where the public can share their concerns about large gatherings, use of parks amenities, businesses in non-compliance and price gouging.
