UPDATE: Closure of Hollis Street for Storm and Sanitary Sewer Installation Delayed until further notice

What Work is Taking Place?

Since early October 2020, installation of a new storm and sanitary sewer system has been underway at the Rail Corridor site. The next phase of storm and sanitary sewer construction has been delayed until further notice. A summary of the required construction activities is listed below, however, detailed construction notices will be issued in advance of each activity.

Hollis Street Closure

This work has been delayed until further notice. Hollis St will be closed to all vehicular traffic, including resident vehicles, for approximately five (5) weeks while crews install the storm and sanitary system along the street. Access to parking lots from Hollis St will also be closed. Property access will be maintained via sidewalk. Final paving of Hollis St will take place in 2021.

Tree Removal

This work has been delayed until further notice. Tree removal and/or injuries may be required in the vicinity of the Hollis St noise wall to facilitate installation of the new storm and sanitary sewer. If required, a construction notice will be issued in advance of tree removal and/or injury.

What to Expect 

• Noise and vibration from use of construction equipment, including hydro-vacuum trucks, excavators and rollers can be expected. 

• Water shut-offs can be expected (affected properties will be notified in advance). 

• Excavation sites, fencing, signage, equipment and material storage will be present along Hollis St. 

• Some overnight work will be required.

HOURS OF WORK 

• Construction may take place 7:00am until 6:00pm, Monday to Saturday through 2020 

• Some overnight work will be required 

• Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances 

• The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours but may do so at its discretion 

• This work may take longer or shorter than expected

TRAFFIC IMPACTS 

• Hollis Street closure is delayed until further notice 

• No major impacts to TTC bus service

PEDESTRIAN IMPACTS 

• Access to businesses and properties will be maintained

OTHER IMPACTS 

• Noise from construction equipment as well as dust and debris removal
