Dear Friends and Neighbours,
People should not have to line up for hours in order to get a vaccine. People should not have to be put in an online waiting room to register for a vaccine, only to find that when they are finally "in," there are no appointments available. The Province has failed the city, and our community, with the vaccine rollout.
The mobile and pop-up vaccination clinics for those 18+ are not operated by Toronto Public Health, but by the individual hospitals. Information regarding when and where these clinics will be running is communicated by the hospitals through social media and on their websites, which are checked by my office daily.
Humber River Hospital posts information regarding their pop-up clinics via Twitter and on their website, either the night before the clinic or the morning of the clinic.
West Park Hospital has been sharing information on their clinics via Twitter as well as on their website.
For those of you who use Twitter, @VaxHuntersCan is an excellent resource that many have come to rely upon for up-to-date vaccination news.
I applaud our MPP for raising the issue of vaccine access in the legislature; it is past time for the Province to step up and give York South--Weston the attention it deserves. I hope that our MPP continues to advocate at the provincial level for better access for our community.Until then, I will continue to reach out to hospitals and our local Ontario Health Teams for increased access to vaccines in YSW.
There are a number of vaccination clinics for those 18+ in the upcoming days. You can find the list under the COVID-19 Update section below.
Sincerely,
Frances
