The holidays are just around the corner and there is no doubt that they will look different this year. I urge everyone to please refrain from attending or hosting gatherings of any kind. This cannot be repeated enough.
Today marks a grim milestone: Toronto has reached 50,000 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic. It took nine months to reach the first 25,000 cases, and the second 25,000 have all occurred in two months. We have also hit a new record number of cases in Toronto today at 850 cases.
Today we heard from Mayor Tory that Toronto may see stricter lockdown measures over the holidays and we expect to find out more about this later in the week. I know that all of this is challenging, particularly through the holidays, but we must remain steadfast in following the advice from Public Health.
This week, the first doses of the Pfizer vaccine were delivered in Toronto and administered to healthcare workers in high-risk settings. While this is certainly encouraging news in the fight against COVID-19, it will be another while before things go back to 'normal.'
In the meanwhile, we must do more to help stop the spread. Please stay at home as much as possible. It is acceptable for individuals who live alone to link up with one other household - and maintain interactions with only that one household.
I will say it one more time: please do not gather with those outside of your household.

Sincerely,
Frances
