Dear Friends and Neighbours,

It is with a heavy heart that I reflect on the past two weeks.

The discovery of the remains of 215 Indigenous children at the site of a former residential school in Kamloops, BC is a stark reminder of the shameful history of residential schools and the devastating impacts they had, and continue to have, on Indigenous people.

I offer my sincerest condolences to the Indigenous community and pray that the souls of the 215 children, and others that remain undiscovered, be at peace.

I also extend my deepest condolences to the Muslim community that has been shaken by the attack on the Afzaal family in London, Ontario. There is no place for Islamophobia in our country and we all must stand united against hate-motivated violence.

At this time, may we rally as a community and pray for peace and healing for all.

Sincerely,

Frances
